CloudCamp
The Federal CIO has encouraged all agencies to determine ways to increase their operational efficiency and use “light” technology and shared solutions to meet mission and business requirements. One of the most talked about strategies to meet this mandate is hosted applications in the cloud. Given this premise, how can and should public sector organizations embark on the quest for trusted “cloud first” computing solutions? Is it correct that organizations can introduce greater flexibility, functionality, and security into their enterprises by implementing applications in the cloud that have previously demanded significant internal computing resources? Plan to attend CloudCamp at the 2011 Cloud Computing and Virtualization Conference and Exposition and discuss these and other aspects of enterprise cloud computing opportunities with your colleagues from industry, academia, and government. The September 7th CloudCamp is designed to be a forum for early and current adopters of cloud for government operating environments, as well as for those evaluating future cloud computing options. The primary objective of this intensive afternoon session is to exchange ideas, address challenges, share best (and worst) practices, and discuss what’s over the horizon for those embracing these new computing strategies. This is not your usual cloud computing session. CloudCamp is structured as an interactive, unscripted “unconference” with an opening session that moves swiftly into a configurable format where the participants propose topics and discussion questions that are considered by the group, prioritized, and addressed throughout the session. Bring your ideas, recommended topics, and toughest questions about cloud implementation options for government and get involved in this lively, thought-provoking session. If doing is learning, this is an ideal way to expand your expertise and comfort level with this much-hyped computing paradigm. Decide for yourself what makes sense for your agency by collaborating with your peers at CloudCamp.
