The Federal CIO Council launched a crusade of sorts to eliminate duplicative and underused systems and to focus on operational efficiencies across all executive agencies.  A cornerstone of this effort has been the Federal Data Center Consolidation Initiative (FDCCI).  Since early 2010, the FDDCI team has catalogued the government’s data centers and now is working with agency CIOs to close selected facilities that are no longer essential to meet mission requirements.  Attend this session to understand the role of virtualization and how it has enabled specific agencies to implement more efficient computing platforms and technologies.

Attendees will learn how:

  • Virtualization works to improve agency computing agility
  • FDCCI requirements can be met with virtualization strategies that optimize hardware and software investments
  • Agencies can proactively increase server utilization and energy savings
  • To take advantage of agency experience with successful virtualized environments
